Sharing the stage with Dwight is truly a dream come true. I’ve long respected his style of country music, he’s always been an outlier (an Ohio/Kentucky boy goes to LA to peddle country music!), but one of the things that really hooked me on Dwight is his appreciation for the history and the stories behind the genre. Last year I remember driving and listening to him interviewed about Merle Haggard, Buck Owens & the Bakersfield sound. He got choked up talking about Merle and Merle’s undying passion for the music. Dwight saw right to the heart and soul of the music Merle made. He seemed to understand him as a person, the beauty and the ugliness, and understood him as a dedicated artist and entertainer. I have really respected the way he acknowledges his inspirations and how he works to preserve their contributions to country music at large and to his own music. Acknowledging the ones who helped blaze the trail, that’s truly honorable. We hope to see you up in NH for this one, it’s the day before we fly out for tour in Europe. This is a show I’ve been hoping could happen since as long as I’ve been making country music. Comments are closed.
